Your hair should match the personality you want to portray so you show that personality more.
Most Kings do cut their hair to be short so they don't have to find a short hair wig to use, but some Kings have long hair and pull it off. For example, one of my performances I've been working on is a Bad Boy who is still a Gentleman for the ladies and guys. Some common personalities you could embody are The reason it is so important is because it also affects what song you will choose to perform to.
